On 29 August 2022, ECHA announced that it has received new harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) proposals. The proposals concern eight fragrance cosmetic ingredients and were submitted by Sweden.

From 21 August 2022, only compliant cosmetic products containing the fragrance ingredient Methyl-N-methylanthranilate (M-N-MA) (CAS No 85-91-6) shall be placed on the Union market.

The European Commission has asked the Scientific Committee to assess the safety of Silver Zinc Zeolite (with INCI name “Ammonium Silver Zinc Aluminium Silicate”) in cosmetic products. The SCCS approved this mandate in the plenary meeting on 21-22 June 2022, and the Committee has nine months to deliver its Opinion.
Although it is easy to identify some Aluminium (AL)-cosmetic ingredients by their INCI name containing the word “Aluminum”, there are many Al-containing ingredients difficult to be identified.
