On 4 April 2023, the SCCS published the preliminary opinion on Silver Zinc Zeolite with (CAS No. 130328-20-0, EC No. 603-404-0). The deadline for comments was set for 5 June 2023.

On 16 February 2023, Cosmetics Europe launches a new online database COSMILE Europe. It is a European database of cosmetic ingredients to help consumers to find information on ingredients displayed on the label or packaging of cosmetics and personal care products.
On 17 February 2023, a group of brands and associations from the cosmetics industry, committed to formulating and selling only microplastic-free products, urged the European Commission (EC) in an open letter to accelerate the ban of intentionally added microplastics from all cosmetic products.
Advertising claims must comply with Regulation (EU) No. 655/2013 establishing common criteria that claims relating to cosmetic products must meet, as well as the latest version of the Manual on the scope of application of the Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009 (Art.2 (1)(a)).
The European Commission has asked the Scientific Committee to assess the safety of the hair dye ‘HC Blue 18 (B122)’. The SCCS approved this mandate by written procedure on 10 February 2023, and the Committee has three months to deliver its Opinion.
