On 18 December 2023, the Council reached an agreement (‘general approach’) on a proposal for a regulation on packaging and packaging waste. The aim is to tackle the increase in packaging waste generated in the EU, while harmonising the internal market for packaging and boosting the circular economy.
As the Council of the EU prepares to adopt its general approach to the revision of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Cosmetics Europe points out the importance of adopting measures that align with both the environmental and competitiveness objectives of the EU.
