Spain has a voluntary labelling system for the packaging of domestic products aiming to inform citizens about the correct separation, and disposal. Interestingly, although it is not mandatory, most of the products available on the market, have information on the correct separation of packaging waste.

Considering the concerns related to potential endocrine-disrupting properties of “Salicylic Acid” the European Commission has asked the Scientific Committee to assess its safety in cosmetic products. On 3 February 2022, this mandate has been accepted by the SCCS and the Committee has nine months to deliver its Opinion.

Based on the SCCS Opinion “SCCS/1613/19” (and its addendum “SCCS/1626/20”) on the safety of aluminium in cosmetic products (including deodorants and antiperspirants, toothpaste, and lipsticks), the European Commission asked the Scientific Committee to assess other types of products, considering also the aggregate exposure to this substance.
