The European Commission has asked the Scientific Committee to assess the safety of Hexyl Salicylate used in cosmetic products. The SCCS approved this mandate by written procedure on 13 February 2023, and the Committee has nine months to deliver its Opinion.
On 30-31 January 2023, the SCCS meeting of the Working Group (WG) on cosmetic ingredients in cosmetic products was held.
On 18 January 2023, the SCCS meeting of the Working Group (WG) on nanomaterials in cosmetic products was held.
On 11 January 2023, the SCCS published the preliminary opinion on Hydroxyapatite (nano), with CAS no: 1306-06-5. The deadline for comments was set for 1 March 2023.

The European Commission has asked the Scientific Committee to assess the safety of children’s exposure to Methyl Salicylate (methyl 2-hydroxybenzoate, CAS/EC No. 119-36-8/204-317-7) as used in cosmetic products. The SCCS approved this mandate by written procedure on 20 December 2022, and the Committee has three months to deliver its Opinion.
On 15 December 2022, the SCCS published the preliminary opinion on Salicylic Acid with CAS no “69-72-7”. The deadline for comments was set for 17 February 2023.
The CMR Omnibus V Regulation, formally EU Regulation 2022/1531, which is based on the 17th ATP of CLP, enters into force on 17 December 2022.
