The Regulation 2024/858 of 14 March 2024 amended Annexes II (prohibited substances) and III (restricted ingredients) of European Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009 to ban 12 nano-form ingredients and introduce new restrictions on Hydroxyapatite. A corrigendum to these restrictions was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 31 July 2024.
On 1 April 2024, the European Commission started a consultation inviting any interested parties to submit data, scientific evidence and relevant information about aggregate exposure to salicylic acid from the use of salicylic esters in cosmetic products.
