On 9 June 2023, the Scientific Committee published its final Opinion on the safety of Salicylic Acid with CAS no 69-72-7, EC No. 200-712-3. The SCCS adopted this document during the plenary meeting on 6-7 June 2023.
On 8 June 2023, the SCCS published the preliminary opinion on Butylparaben, with CAS No. 94-26-8, EC No. 202-318-7. The deadline for comments was set for 21 August 2023.
On 26 April 2023, ECHA published four reports on the assessment of regulatory needs for four substance groups. Interestingly, three groups include substances used in cosmetic products.
The European Commission has asked the Scientific Committee to assess the safety of Benzophenone-4 (CAS No.4065-45-6, EC No. 223-772-2). The SCCS approved this mandate by written procedure on 17 April 2023, and the Committee has nine months to deliver its Opinion.
On 13 December 2022, ECHA published the draft list of the substances included in the Community rolling action plan (CoRAP) for the years 2023-2025. The Scientific Committee has published the final scientific advice on Triclocarban and Triclosan as substances with potential endocrine-disrupting properties in cosmetic products. The SCCS adopted this scientific advice during the plenary meeting on 24-25 October 2022.
The Scientific Committee has published its final Opinion on Genistein and Daidzein. It was adopted by written procedure on 16 September 2022.
On 20 September 2022, the European Commission started a public consultation on a draft act that would introduce new hazard classes as part of its revision to the CLP Regulation on classification, labelling, and packaging of substances. The consultation is open until 18 October.
