For seven years until 31 December 2027, the name, address, and country of origin requirements are satisfied if there is compliance with Article 19(1)(a) of the EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009.
Below is a summary of what is expected to happen in the near future.
The European Commission has asked the Scientific Committee to assess the safety of children’s exposure to Methyl Salicylate (methyl 2-hydroxybenzoate, CAS/EC No. 119-36-8/204-317-7) as used in cosmetic products. The SCCS approved this mandate by written procedure on 20 December 2022, and the Committee has three months to deliver its Opinion.
On 15 December 2022, the SCCS published the preliminary opinion on Salicylic Acid with CAS no “69-72-7”. The deadline for comments was set for 17 February 2023.
On 30 November 2022, the European Commission published the proposal for a revision of EU legislation on Packaging and Packaging Waste, as part of the European Green Deal’s Circular Economy Action Plan aiming to prevent packaging waste, boost reuse and refill, and make all packaging recyclable by 2030.
