The draft agenda of the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) 2nd plenary meeting, on 21-22 June 2022, has just been published.
On 31 May and 1 June 2022, the SCCS meeting of the Working Group (WG) on cosmetic ingredients in cosmetic products was held.
From 3 June 2022, hair and eyelash dye products containing the following hair dye ingredients shall not be made available on the Union market.
On 29 April 2022, the European Commission published in the Official Journal of the European Union, the Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/677, including the new glossary of common ingredient names for use in the labelling of cosmetic products. Based on the SCCS Opinion “SCCS/1613/19” (and its addendum “SCCS/1626/20”) on the safety of aluminium in cosmetic products (including deodorants and antiperspirants, toothpaste, and lipsticks), the European Commission asked the Scientific Committee to assess other types of products, considering also the aggregate exposure to this substance.
On 11 February 2022, European Commission notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) of a draft Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 referring to the ban of 12 nanomaterials for which the SCCS has identified a high concern.
