On 21-22 May 2024, the SCCS meeting of the Working Group (WG) on cosmetic ingredients in cosmetic products was held. The points of the previous meeting were agreed upon and published. Below is a summary of the points discussed in this WG meeting.

On 3 April 2024, Regulation (EU) 2024/996 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union amending Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 regarding the use of Vitamin A compounds, Arbutin, Alpha-Arbutin, Triclosan, Triclocarban, Kojic Acid, Daidzein, Genistein, and 4-Methylbenzylidene Camphor.
On 1 April 2024, the United Kingdom (UK) published an amendment to the Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009, as applicable in Great Britain (i.e., England, Wales, and Scotland). Permitted levels of BHT (CAS no 128-37-0) in the Cosmetics Regulation are amended.
On 4 April 2024, the SCCS published its preliminary SCCS opinion on the fragrance ingredient Citral concerning the skin sensitisation endpoint. The SCCS adopted this document during the plenary meeting on 27 March 2024.
On 3 April 2024, the SCCS published the preliminary opinion on the safety of Triphenyl Phosphate (CAS No.204-112-2, EC No.115-86-6). The SCCS adopted this document during the plenary on 27 March 2024.
On 4 April 2024, the SCCS published a final opinion on the safety and appropriate usage of Aluminium in cosmetic products after reviewing the conclusions presented in SCCS/1613/19, SCCS/1626/20, and SCCS/1644/22.
