French Court invalidates decree on Green Dot Trademark, no extra fees imposed

The Conseil d’État, France’s highest administrative court, recently made a significant ruling in favor of Green Dot and PRO Europe. The court ruled against a 2020 decree issued by the French Environment Ministry, which aimed to eliminate the Green Dot symbol from all packaged goods sold in France and establish penalties for non-compliance. The court decided that the use of the Green Dot financing symbol on packaging in France can now continue without any additional fees or restrictions.
