On 20 October 2023, the UK Government added 98 chemical substances to the Great Britain Mandatory Classification List (GB MCL). This action introduces new mandatory classifications under Article 37 of the GB Classification, Labelling, and Packaging (CLP) Regulation for these substances.
Methyl-N-methylanthranilate, HAA299 and HAA299 (nano): New restrictions in the UK Cosmetics Regulation
On 6 July 2023, the United Kingdom (UK) published an amendment to the Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009, as applicable in Great Britain (i.e., England, Wales, and Scotland). Permitted levels of Methyl-N-methylanthranilate, HAA299 and HAA299 (nano) in the Cosmetics Regulation are amended.
For a period of five years until 31 December 2025: the name, address, and country of origin requirements are satisfied if there is compliance with the requirements of Article 19(1)(a) of the EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009.
The UK adopted the EU Annexes of the Cosmetics Regulation until 31 December 2020. However, from 1 January 2021, the UK decides if the changes occurred under the EU Cosmetics Regulation will be followed under the UK Cosmetics Regulation.
