On 5 March 2024, the SCCS published the final opinion on the hair dye Hydroxypropyl p-phenylenediamine and its dihydrochloride salt (A165) (CAS/EC No. 73793-79-0/827-723-1 and 1928659-47-5/-) in cosmetic products. The SCCS adopted this document by written procedure on 28 February 2024.

On 8 May 2023, the Scientific Committee published its scientific advice on the safety of the hair dye ‘HC Blue 18 (B122)’. The SCCS adopted this document during the plenary meeting on 27 April 2023.
On 23 March 2023, the Scientific Committee published its final Opinion on the safety of the hair dye, Sodium bromothymol blue (C186). The SCCS adopted this document during the plenary meeting on 21-22 March 2023.
The European Commission has asked the Scientific Committee to assess the safety of the hair dye ‘HC Blue 18 (B122)’. The SCCS approved this mandate by written procedure on 10 February 2023, and the Committee has three months to deliver its Opinion.

From 22 April 2022 hair dye and self-tanning products containing Dihydroxyacetone (CAS no 96-26-4) and not complying with the restrictions shall not be made available on the Union market.
The European Commission has asked the SCCS to assess the safety of the hair dye ingredient “Sodium Bromothymol Blue”. On 16 March 2022, the SCCS accepted this mandate and the Committee has nine months to deliver its Opinion.
