On 6 December 2023, Cosmetics Europe and the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) welcomed the provisional agreement between the European Parliament and the Council on the revision of the Regulation on the Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Chemical Substances and Mixtures (CLP), reached on 5 December 2023 following the trilogue discussions.

The European Commission has asked the Scientific Committee to assess the safety of the fragrance ingredient Citral concerning the skin sensitisation endpoint. On the 16th of February 2022, this mandate has been accepted by the SCCS and the Committee has 9 months to deliver its opinion.
