The EU cosmetics industry is seeking legal clarification from the Court of Justice of the EU on the new Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive. The legal requirements must be based on the use of ingredients that are polluting the aquatic environment. Also, upgrading to a fourth stage of wastewater treatment plants is required, regardless of the industrial sector they come from and not just on vaguely selected industrial sectors.
