To protect children, the European Commission plans to prepare a REACH restriction proposal on carcinogenic, mutagenic, and reprotoxic (CMR) substances in childcare articles. To this end, ECHA prepared a call for evidence and asked interested parties to send information on the potential presence of CMRs (categories 1A or 1B) in childcare articles. The call for evidence closed on 31 March 2023 and ECHA has to prepare the investigation report, expected to be ready in September 2023.
