On 2 October 2023, the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) started the consultation on harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) of Acetophenone used in cosmetics as a fragrance ingredient. The proposal was submitted by Spain, and ECHA has launched the consultation, which will remain open until 1 December 2023. If the classification process is completed, the use of Acetophenone as a cosmetic ingredient may be at risk.
