The European Commission has initiated an open public consultation to gather opinions on addressing the production of hazardous chemicals that are banned within the European Union (EU) but are produced for export. This action aligns with the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability and the European Green Deal’s goal of achieving a toxic-free environment. The objective is to establish safety and sustainability standards for hazardous chemicals outside the EU, bringing the EU’s external action in line with domestic policies. The forthcoming initiative aims to harmonize EU regulations and provide legal certainty for businesses.
